The Cook County Clerk's office will canvass write-in ballots cast in the 3rd District village board trustee race on Thursday.
Write-in ballots cast in last week’s election for 3rd District village board trustee will be canvassed on Thursday afternoon at the Cook County Clerk’s office. Trustee Bob Streit leads write-in candidate Dan Sodaro by eight votes, 738-730, according to unofficial election results. Sodaro stunned the opposition when by the end of last Tuesday night he had garnered 701 write-in votes. The unofficial tallies include early voting and absentee ballots cast in the April 5 election. Oak Lawn resident Andy Skoundrianos, who charged that there were irregularities with the circulators of Sodaro’s nominating petitions, had Sodaro thrown off the ballot. Although the village electoral board dismissed Skoundrianos’ challenge because of a typo, a Cook …

Oak Lawn Village Electoral Board strikes trustee hopeful Dan Sodaro's name from the April 5 ballot after he's a no-show at electoral board hearing.
Oak Lawn Village Trustee candidate Dan Sodaro’s name was stricken from the April 5 ballot when neither he nor his attorney showed up an Oak Lawn Village Electoral Board hearing. The village electoral board reconvened on Thursday to set a date for an evidentiary hearing. Earlier this week, a judge sent the objection filed against Sodaro’s nominating petitions back, telling the board it erred when it voted 2-1 to dismiss the challenge last month. An attorney from the village’s legal counsel, Querry and Harrow, told the electoral board that he had received an e-mail from Sodaro’s attorney about 40 minutes before the hearing was to start saying she wouldn’t be there. Sodaro’s nominating petitions were being challenged by Oak Lawn resident Andy…

The Oak Lawn Village Electoral Board will hold a hearing on the objection to nominating petitions for village trustee candidate Dan Sodaro at 4 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 18.

A judge send the objection back to the village electoral board saying that it had erred when members voted 2-1 to dismiss the objection. An evidence hearing is expected to take place. Sodaro is challenged village trustee Bob Streit in the 3rd District in the upcoming April election. Attorney Dennis Brennan said there likely will be several hours of testimony regarding issues with the circulators of Sodaro’s petitions. Oak Lawn resident Andy Skoundrianos wants Sodaro’s name removed from the ballot. The meeting is open to the public and will be held at Oak Lawn Village Hall …

A Cook County judge ruled Monday that the Oak Lawn Village Electoral Board erred when it dismissed a challenge against a village trustee's nominating petitions. Case is sent back for a hearing this week.
Judge Robert Bertucci said the Oak Lawn Village Board erred when it dismissed a challenge filed against a village trustee candidate’s nominating petitions to put his name on the upcoming consolidated election ballot. Attorneys representing Oak Lawn resident Andy Skoundrianos and village board candidate Dan Sodaro met in court Monday to determine if the village electoral board followed the law when it dismissed an objection filed against Sodaro. Sodaro is challenging longtime village trustee Bob Streit for the 3rd District seat on the Oak Lawn Village Board. Last month, village electoral board members Mayor Dave Heilmann and Trustee Jerry Hurckes voted to dismiss the challenge. Village Clerk Jane Quinlan was the lone dissenter and read a …
Cook County Judge Robert Bertucci is expected to decided on Valentine's Day whether to send a challenge filed against trustee candidate Dan Sodaro back to the Oak Lawn Village Board for an evidence hearing.
A Cook County judge is poised to decide whether to send an appeal back to the Oak Lawn Village Electoral Board or uphold its decision from last month to dismiss an objection filed against a village board trustee’s nominating petitions. Judge Robert Bertucci will review the appeal Monday morning and determine if the objection should go back to the village electoral board for an evidence hearing. Bertucci also can uphold the decision, in which case the decision may be appealed to a higher court. Oak Lawn resident Andy Skoundrianos filed an objection against the nominating petitions of village trustee candidate Dan Sodaro. Skoundrianos maintains that Sodaro violated state election laws when circulating his nominating petitions to put his name…

Next court date for Sodaro petition challenge set for Feb. 14. Judge will decide whether to uphold village electoral board's decision to dismiss challenge or send it back for a hearing.
Cook County Judge Robert Bertucci set a Valentine’s Day hearing date for an appeal to an electoral board ruling to dismiss a challenge mounted against a village trustee candidate's nominating petitions. The Oak Lawn Village Electoral Board voted 2-1 last month to toss out an objection filed by Oak Lawn resident Andy Skoundrianos claiming that Dan Sodaro violated state election laws when he circulated his petitions to put his name on the April 5 ballot. Electoral board members Mayor Dave Heilmann and Trustee Jerry Hurckes voted to dismiss the objection because of a typo made on the objection that named the office sought by Sodaro as “Judge of the Cook County Court.” Sodaro is challenging longtime incumbent Bob Streit for the village board’s…

Offensive ties, f-bombs, crazy village politics, an exciting free offer and other news that made the cutting-room floor.
The Whole World’s Talking About the Webb Boys Patch heard all sorts of colorful language while carousing the village's various drinking establishments during last Sunday’s big game between the Packers and Bears. Never have we heard so many creative uses of the f-word. Oak Lawn made global headlines the next day when John Stone, a salesman at Webb Chevrolet, got fired after he refused five requests to take off his Green Bay Packers tie. Webb GM Jerry Roberts told the Southtown Star that it was because the dealership spent $20,000 per month advertising with the Bears on WBBM radio. Stone was offered a new gig at Chevrolet of Homewood. He also admitted to being stunned by his 15 minutes of fame after his story went viral around the globe …

Oak Lawn Village Electoral Board reads its decision to dismiss objection against disputed village board candidate Dan Sodaro's nominating petitions.
Prior Oak Lawn Village Electoral Board hearings for disputed village board candidate Dan Sodaro were not video-taped for future telecast on the village’s public access Channel 4. At the electoral board’s second hearing, Mayor Dave Heilmann ordered the TV camera to be shut off after Sodaro's attorney objected to the hearing being taped. Last week, the village electoral board voted 2-1 to dismiss Oak Lawn-resident Andy Skoundrianos’ objection against Sodaro’s nominating petitions. Skoundrianos has alleged that the candidate violated state election laws when he and his circulators signed nominating sheets that they did not circulate. For now, Sodaro’s name remains on the ballot. Skoundrianos plans to appeal the Oak Lawn Village Electoral …

Electoral board hearing resumes for Skoundrianos vs. Sodaro at 9 a.m. Friday, Jan. 14.
Dan Sodaro, whose nominating petitions for village board trustee are being challenged by a Walgreens sales associate, survived a signature challenge at Cook County Clerk David Orr’s office on Wednesday. Sodaro is running for the 3rd District seat on the Oak Lawn Village Board against incumbent Bob Streit, the village board’s longest-serving trustee, in the April 5 consolidated election. Attorneys for Sodaro and the objector, Andy Skoundrianos, compared signatures on the candidate’s petition against those on the signers’ voter registrations. Skoundrianos alleges that “numerous names” on the candidate’s nominating petitions were not registered voters or were forged, and asked that Sodaro’s name be removed from the ballot. The objector also …

Attorney seeks to dismiss objector's petition charging that a village board candidate violated state election laws when filing his nominating papers.
Vague accusations and a typo are at the center of a motion to dismiss an objection filed by a Walgreen’s store associate to get a village board trustee candidate’s name tossed off the ballot in the April election. Dan Sodaro is running for the 3rd District seat on the Oak Lawn Village Board against long-time trustee Bob Streit. Sodaro is a twice-elected board member of Ridgeland Dist. 122 and the board's current president. Last month, Streit’s friend Andy Skoundrianos filed an objection claiming Sodaro violated “numerous laws” while collecting signatures for his nominating petitions. “I called Bob and told him that the petitions don’t look good to me,” Skoundrianos explained, who said he has attended village board meetings for over 20 …

Talk about patterns of fraud reminds me that Jane quinlan committed her 1st fraud when she sent that letter out to people making it sound like an official letter from the village. That's brennan's move kinda double talk. Then there's her endorsement in print of Streit. Wonder if she got another raise for that one. Now she says that she did what she was supposed to do and signed off on very …   more ›
