Baseball: McKevitt, Marist Mow Down Sandburg

Marist 4, Sandburg 0: Marist senior right-hander John McKevitt tossed a three-hit shutout against his old pals on Monday afternoon in Orland Park. He also doubled and scored a run as the RedHawks won for the seventh time in nine games.

Touching All the Bases: John McKevitt, pitching for the road team, scored a hometown victory. McKevitt tossed a three-hit shutout in Marist’s 4-0 baseball victory over Sandburg on Monday afternoon in Orland Park. McKevitt lives in Orland. He grew up playing with many of the Eagles before enrolling at Marist. He mowed down his old friends by spotting his fastball and mixing in his curve and changeup, too. He also doubled and scored a run. Ryan Meyer blasted a two-run homer in the top of the fifth inning as the RedHawks won for the seventh time in nine games. Wetzel Whets Providence Appetite for Postseason Party

Top-ranked Celtics finish regular season with 30 wins. No. 2 L-Way North poised to ride the pitching arm of Jake Harper.

1. Providence (30-3): Thirty wins, 15 good-weather baseball days? Dan Wetzel went 1-for-3 and had four RBIs in the Celtics’ 6-5 victory over Lockport. Next comes postseason play.
