Oak Lawn Girls Outlast Chicago Christian

Spartans overcome foul trouble and use an 8-0 run at the end of third quarter to knock off Knights.

The undersized Oak Lawn girls basketball team expected a difficult task in trying to outrebound Chicago Christian on Tuesday night. The Spartans didn't anticipate having to do so with a few of their top players spending significant time on the bench due to foul trouble. Still, the Spartans used their quickness to force 22 turnovers and fared far better at the free throw line than the Knights did, taking control late in the third quarter to win 47-38 in a non-conference contest. "We've had a lot of close games but don't seem to be able to stay in them to finish them," Chicago Christian coach Linda Stuursma said. "In the second half, (Oak Lawn) came out wanting it more.
