Less than a week after he posted $200,000 to bond out on a $2 million bail, 33-year-old George Kleopa was back in a Markham courtroom Wednesday, Aug. 15. Kleopa stood next to his attorney, Jeff Kent, in a dark brown suit as Judge Thomas J. Carroll set the Aug. 28 date for his arraignment on first-degree murder charges. A Chicago Heights man charged with the murder of his live-in girlfriend has been released on a $2 million bail, officials confirmed Tuesday, Aug. 14. Cook County prosecutors say George Kleopa, 33, fatally shot his girlfriend Michele Peters, 30, in the Chicago Heights home they shared with their two young sons in the early morning hours of March 6. Kleopa was given a $2 million D Bond in late July, which means he had to post 10 percent of it to be released.
