POLICE BLOTTER: Stay Out of Home Depot, Consensual Conversation

Oak Lawn police reports Jan. 10 through Jan. 15.

TUESDAY, JANUARY 15 An Oak Lawn police officer recognized a man who was charged with retail theft last September pull up to the Home Depot at 4060 W. 95th St. around 10:51 a.m. A passenger got out of a blue Nissan and walked to the front entrance of the store, while four occupants remained inside the motor running, reports said. The officer was able to identify the driver of Maurice Walker, 51, of Harvey, as the person allegedly involved in a Home Depot retail theft from last September. At the time of his arrest Walker was warned not to return to the store or he would be arrested for criminal trespassing. Walker was taken into police custody and charged with criminal trespassing. Puffy Coat Thief Found With Stolen Property, Cops Say

Man found to be possession of numerous items stolen from cars, police said.

  Oak Lawn police arrested a man said to be found in possession of property that he had pilfered from cars, reports said. Sign up for the Oak Lawn Patch newsletter and breaking news alerts. Police responded to a call around 1:40 a.m. Jan. 6, of a man allegedly rooting around the inside of the caller’s van on the 6200 block of West 94th Street. On the way to the scene, officers saw a man wearing two black puffy coats that matched the caller’s description. The officer approached the man in the puffy coats, indentified as Jeffrey A. Smith, 23, of the 9500 block of South Ridgeland Avenue. POLICE BLOTTER: Pop Pinching, Hooters Hijinx

Oak Lawn police reports Dec. 28 through Dec. 30.

SUNDAY, DECEMBER 30 A 38-year-old woman was charged with felony retail theft for allegedly stealing 17 cases of pop from Jewel-Osco at 8801 S. Ridgeland Ave. A loss prevention officer spotted Traci L. Kay, of Palos Heights, loading up a cart with pop around 3:45 p.m., police said. Kay was confronted outside the store and detained. Police said Kay has stolen from the store on numerous occasions. At the Oak Lawn police station, Kay allegedly admitted to stealing cases of pop as well as laundry soap, and selling the hot goods to stores in Chicago. Kay was scheduled for preliminary hearing on Jan. 1 at the time of this report. POLICE BLOTTER: Gang Graffiti on Toadstools, Intoxicated Prowler, Stolen Patio Furniture

Oak Lawn police reports, October 28-29.

MONDAY, OCTOBER 29 A homeowner came home after being out of town for several weeks only to discover that someone had swiped her patio furniture from her home on the 8900 block of South 52nd Avenue. Two chairs, a love seat and a table are missing. The homeowner told police the pieces are heavy and that it would take two people to move them. The furniture was last seen on Oct. 8. She believes the pieces were taken for scrap. SUNDAY, OCTOBER 28 Police found gang graffiti, possibly from the Latin Kings, written in black marker on the toadstools at Wolfe Park at 5190 W. 107th St. around 4:30 p.m.. Strangers With Cameras Barge In On Home Alone Kids

Boys tell cops strangers walked around home taking pictures and reminiscing about old times.

Oak Lawn police responded to a suspicious activity call in the 9600 block of South Merton Avenue around 5:41 p.m. Oct. 20. The mother said she went out for a while and left her sons, ages 12 and 13, home alone. Man Hiding in Bushes Picked Up On Warrant, Cops Say

A 23-year-old Oak Lawn wanted on a burglar warrant was charged with criminal trespassing after police said he jimmied open a window and climbed in an apartment building's laundry room.

Police found a man standing behind some bushes near an apartment building on the 9500 block of South Keeler Avenue after receiving a call of tall man entering a ground floor window around 11:16 a.m. Aug. 29, reports said. Martinez Jr., 23, of the 9700 block of South Tripp Avenue, was wanted on a felony arrest warrant out of the Cook County Sheriff’s office for residential burglary and was placed under arrest. Police: Busted Champagne Bottle Ignites Liquor Store Meltdown

Two women were hit with charges related to assault and battery after threatening and fighting with liquor store employees, police said.

A Crestwood woman was accused of disrupting a liquor store and fighting employees after they refused to sell her alcohol earlier in the day. Employees at a liquor store in the 10700 block of Cicero Avenue told police that Terica Gordon and two females were stopped from buying alcohol on Jan. 14 at 11 p.m. because they lacked the right identification. Store policy, they said, requires everyone — even those in a group buying alcohol — to present a driver’s license proving their age. Two of the women presented general state identification and one had nothing to show. The women left, but Gordon soon returned and after arguing with a security guard, grabbed a bottle of champagne and approached the clerk. Refused at the counter, Gordon then …

Police: Man Warned Twice To Stop Bothering Girlfriend Arrested

Oak Lawn man is charged with domestic-related criminal trespassing and cited for public intoxication when he keeps going back to girlfriend's apartment, police said.

Oak Lawn police to an apartment on the 10400 block of South Menard three times after a woman called to report that her boyfriend of 34 years was bothering her, police said. Police charged Rick M. Dougan, 56, of Oak Lawn, with criminal trespassing and citied him for public intoxication on Nov. 5. According the report, Dougan had been warned to leave the premises and stop bothering his girlfriend twice earlier in the day or he would be arrested. At 11 a.m., police responded to a call of an intoxicated male on the balcony. Police said when they arrived Dougan was banging on the sliding glass door and swearing.
