Retired White Sox catcher Carlton Fisk pleaded guilty to misdemeanor DUI in Will County Court in Joliet. Arrested on Oct. 22 by New Lenox police and charged with DUI, the Sun-Times Media said 64-year-old Fisk pleaded guilt to one year of court supervision. He will also pay $1,250 in court costs. Fisk was also ordered to complete an alcohol abuse program. According to the Sun-Times Media, part of that program demands that he meet with select families who had lost loved ones due to drunken drivers. Fisk had been booked on charges of DUI, illegal transportation of alcohol and failure to drive on the right side of the roadway. After sitting in jail for more than a year, one teen charged in the robbery and beating death of a Palos township couple could get the chance to go home if a judge rescinds a no-bond order. A bond hearing has been set for Mohammad Salahat, 18, on Monday in a Bridgeview courtroom with his defense attorney set to argue that a psychological evaluation will show Salahat is non-violent and won't be a danger to anyone if he is released. Salahat is charged with murder in connection with stabbing and beating death of John and Maria Granat, along with three alleged accomplices: Christopher Wyma, 18; Ehab Qasem, 20; and the couple's son, John Granat, 18. A hate crime and robbery case against two southwestern suburban men that began more than two years ago ended as the pair pleaded guilty to one felony count each of a hate crime. Akram Alshoweat, 24, of Oak Lawn and Mohammed Shaban, 37, of Hickory Hills have to pay court costs and were each sentenced to 24 months probation by Cook County Judge Colleen Ann Hyland in her Bridgeview courtroom. Other related charges were dismissed. The two men were charged in connection to a June 2010 incident where police say they attacked a woman they believed to be a lesbian outside a Hickory Hills restaurant.
