Do you know how many drinks you can have before you're in danger of being busted for drunken driving? When police pull over drivers for suspected drunken driving, officers ask them to perform field sobriety tests and to take a breath test to measure blood alcohol content. A BAC test measures the percentage of alcohol present in a person's bloodstream. The legal limit in Illinois is 0.08. According to the Virginia Tech Alcohol Abuse Prevention website, every 40 minutes, 0.01 percent of alcohol leaves your system. The limit for people under 21 is 0.02. PALOS HEIGHTS April 21: Nikola Ostojic, 38, of the 12900 block of Forestview Road, was charged with driving under the influence. He was stopped at 4:53 a.m. and failed a field sobriety test, police said. A breath test revealed a blood alcohol level of .143, police said. ORLAND PARK Jan. 25: Felix Hernandez, 28, of the 13700 block of Trafalgar Court in Orland Park, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under the influence with a blood-alcohol level greater than .08, improper lane use, failure to signal and avoiding a traffic control device. Police pulled over a car after seeing it cross into the median, swerve between lanes, turn without signaling and cross through a parking lot, on 82nd Avenue near Uxbridge Drive around 2:10 a.m. The driver’s breath smelled like alcohol and he failed field sobriety tests, police said. I don't feel sorry for me for not drinking..I remember well the headaches, the pounding headaches and not being able to function well the next day. Not good when you have small children. Not good if you have to work on New Years Day like so many do. I hate headaches, so I don't like drinking to drunkenness. But I can still have fun.
