Car Fire Burns Rental House Garage

People were in the home, located at 6200 W. 90th St., when the fire started but no one was injured.

Firefighters battled a car fire inside the garage of a rental home on West 90th Street Saturday night. The blaze was contained to the garage before it could reach the house, said Oak Lawn Battalion Chief Pete Lombardi. At least two people were in the home when the car caught fire and no one was injured. Investigators did not immediately have a cause for what started the fire, which started at about 3:40 p.m. in the garage at 6200 W. 90th St. Witnesses said the garage door was closed when firefighters arrived and it had to be pried open. Flames could be seen shooting out of the garage. The car's fuel tank had ruptured at some point, one witness said. Garage Declared A Total Loss After Being Ravaged by Fire

Fire broke out in a detached garage on Komensky Avenue in Oak Lawn late Monday afternoon that came close to spreading to the house, Oak Lawn fire officials said.

A detached garage on the 10800 block of South Komensky Avenue was declared a total loss after it was ravaged by fire late Monday afternoon. Oak Lawn Fire Battalion Chief Mike Jensen said the garage was engulfed in flames where firefighters rolled up on the scene shortly after 6 p.m. Subscribe to Oak Lawn Patch breaking news alerts. “It came in as a garage fire,” Jensen said. “The first crew reported a detached garage fire that was fully involved. Fire Damages Garage and Corvette

Village fire officials eyeing electrical transformer as possible cause of garage fire.

Fire erupted in a detached garage of a home on the 10500 block of South Kostner Avenue on Saturday afternoon. The fire heavily damaged the garage itself and a red Corvette that was parked inside, Oak Lawn Fire Department Battalion Chief Mike Jensen said. Oak Lawn firefighters responded to the scene around 3 p.m. The fire was struck within moments of their arrival. No injuries were reported. “The fire was fully involved in the interior when we arrived,” Jensen said. The fire also caused damage to a neighbor’s garage and fence directly behind the home on the 10500 block of South Kolin Avenue.
