Donald Moore and Bloom remain No. 1 in the weekly Patch Power Rankings for boys basketball. Andrew, Marist, Homewood-Flossmoor and Sandburg also are looking to build momentum for postseason play.
1. Bloom (19-3): Donald Moore runs the show. Henry Hicks runs the floor. The two combined for 24 points in the Blazing Trojans’ 64-44 victory over Rich East. And they’ll need to step up again as Bloom looks to settle a score with Rich South on Friday night. Moore has been selected to play in the Chicago United Hoops Classic all-star game on May 5. 2. Stagg wrestling standout Kevin Moylan powered his way to a second-period pin at the Class 3A Lyons Township wrestling regional. He won the 145-pound championship. And he outpolled six others in voting for Patch Athlete of the Week.
Stagg wrestling standout Kevin Moylan outpolled six others in voting for Patch Athlete of the Week, Jan. 29-Feb. 4. He is now eligible for February Patch Athlete of the Month recognition. The candidates: Diamond Beatty, junior, guard, girls basketball, Tinley Park. Beatty’s performance against Lemont was a real gem. She scored 23 points and grabbed seven rebounds in leading the Titans to a 59-46 victory. Martin Einikis, junior, forward, boys basketball, Oak Lawn. Two games, 57 points. Bloom Township is surging again behind the offense-defense of Henry Hicks and Johnny Griffin. The Blazing Trojans have climbed back to No. 1 in the weekly Patch Power Rankings for boys basketball. Andrew is No. 2 and looking to rebound from its first loss
1. Bloom (18-3): Johnny and Henry. Mr. D, meet Mr. O. Johnny Griffin’s offense and Henry Hicks’s defense were highlighted in Bloom Township’s 77-27 victory over Kankakee. The Trojans play host to Rich East at 6:30 tonight. Donald Moore scored 18 points in the first meeting between the two Southland Conference rivals. Bloom notched a 59-50 win. 2. Andrew leapfrogged Bloom and staked its claim to the No. 1 spot in the Patch Power Rankings for boys basketball. H-F held steady in the No. 3 spot. Marist and Brother Rice will square off on Tuesday (Jan. 17) to settle their battle for the 4-5 positions.
1. Andrew (11-0): Jawad Adekoya and Glorind Lisha each scored 19 points in a 61-46 victory at Lincoln-Way East. The T-Bolts play host to Thornridge tonight, then play at Illiana Christian on Saturday. 2. Bloom ((14-2): Henry Hicks made 8-of-10 shots and scored a season-high 17 points in a 55-35 victory at Joliet Central. The Trojans snapped a two-game losing streak. @ Stella we know that you can vote multiple times...that's what we were doing and Cassidy's family was doing it too...you are missing the point...we voted multiple times for hours and days.
