Kids Get a Bit of Christmas Early Thanks to Nonprofit Group

Together We Cope brings early Christmas cheer to 1,800 children. Organization is still accepting holiday donations for children and teens.

Employees and volunteers from Together We Cope got to play the role of Santa early this year, handing out donated Christmas gifts last week to families in need as part of the nonprofit's Adopt a Child program. READ: Together We Cope Provides Christmas for Needy Kids This year, the program had 1,800 children from needy families, up from last year's 1,300. People and organizations have "adopted" these kids, donating gifts that Together We Cope gathered together in gift bags. Although the program is officially over for the year, Together We Cope is still accepting donations for children who weren't sponsored. Donors can find out what is needed by calling 708-633-5040, and more information can be found on the nonprofit group's website. …

You Better Watch Out, Santa Arrives On Village Green This Saturday

Everything you need to know about Oak Lawn's annual Santa On the Green. The free, family holiday festival kicks off from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 24.

The most wonderful time of the year officially starts this Saturday (Nov. 24) when the boss man from the North Pole is due to land for Oak Lawn’s annual Santa On the Green. The free, family, holiday fun-fest kicks off at 1 p.m. as Santa arrives in style atop an Oak Lawn fire engine. Santa, accompanied by Mrs. Claus (Santa's numero uno lady), and their pal Frosty the Snowman, will be escorted by Oak Lawn’s finest and bravest in a mini-parade that winds from the police station to the gazebo at Cook and Dumke.
