Joe Sorrentino asks that voters remember him as an independent candidate for Dist. 6 trustee when they go to the polling booth on Tuesday, April 9.
By JOE SORRENTINO This is a critical time for our Village, a time when our community finds itself confronted by challenges and problems; challenges which can be met and problems capable of being overcome if we pull together and work for a better tomorrow. Regardless of our political leanings, it is imperative that we exercise our right to vote and have our voices heard. In these closing hours before our election, I respectfully ask you to consider the following. THE ELECTION OF 2013 AND WHAT PEOPLE WILL REMEMBER People will likely remember many things about this election. I hope the voters take from my candidacy that I was a TRUE INDEPENDENT; independent in thought, independent of party affiliation, independent of corporate sponsorship…

Botched Mayoral Debate Ends in Bizarre Fight at VFW. Time for Oak Lawn to wake up, Oak Lawn Dist. 6 candidate Joe Sorrentno says.
By JOSPEH SORRENTINO Sadly Oak Lawn, we are the real losers here. Something happened in Oak Lawn the other day. It was an event that underscores exactly what Oak Lawn has a reputation for both within and outside the village. It was an example of bizarre and ridiculous theatrics. It highlighted the fact that the two existing political parties cannot coordinate anything effectively between them; even when they both adamantly claim it is absolutely in the best interest of Oak Lawn to successfully agree on any particular issue. It ended as an all-time herculean fail, with mayoral candidates yelling embarrassing remarks and swearing. Question: What was the event? Answer: A typical Oak Lawn Village board meeting And you probably thought it …

By JOSEPH SORRENTINO I believe a trustee must be an effective communicator in addition to being the best qualified. Sometimes this includes presenting a simple summary to residents. The ability to work through a large volume of information and to organize and present clear and concise facts in an unbiased format is critical. This not only assists in educating residents on the issues; it also best prepares them to draw their own conclusions. Those conclusions then become the feedback to the trustee to effectively represent the voice of the people in the district. The Patch did an amazing job in gathering a large amount of pertinent information and I would encourage everyone to read all responses to each candidate question. However, in …

Name: Joseph Sorrentino Position sought: Trustee District #6 Campaign contact information: Use as much space as you need: 1. What is the primary reason you are running for this office? Oak Lawn is a great place to live and raise a family. I love this community, believe I have made sincere contributions, have deep roots here and plan to continue long into the future. I am running for office because it is clear that our village government is broken and needs immediate attention. We are at a critical stage of unrest. I am certain I can lend insight and expertise to getting our village back on track to becoming a suburban leader rather than a community known for its divisive political battles. I have a proven track record of civil board …

By JOSEPH SORRENTINO Hello, my name is Joseph Sorrentino and I would like to announce that I am running as a candidate for Oak Lawn Village Trustee in District 6. As many District 6 residents have urged me, it is once and for all, time for a change in our village government. I am sure you are aware that almost every village board meeting is dominated by accusations and disruptive behavior between the two major political groups. It is not a healthy debate; it is an endless, counter-productive distraction which is NOT in the best interest of the residents. I’d suggest that you tune into the village channel any day of the week to view the board meetings (Comcast - Ch4; AT&T Uverse-Ch99) at 9:30AM, 1:30PM or 7:30PM. Judge for yourself …
