Oak Lawn 70, Richards 61: Spartans score 43 second-half points to defeat their crosstown rivals. Bulldogs star Dominque Gaddis was held to five points in the second half and finished with 25.
The Hot Read: Oak Lawn enjoyed a huge second half en route to beating its crosstown rival, as Anthony Johnson led the way with 16 points after halftime. Richards 70, Shepard 59: Bulldogs use a 12-0 run to break open a close game with the visiting Astros.
The Hot Read: With the score tied at 23-all, Richards went on a 12-0 run at the end of the half and the start of the third quarter to take control. Bulldogs' boys basketball team loses big to Leo but shows plenty of heart in a later loss to Marist at the Eisenhower Tip-Off Classic.
BLUE ISLAND — Richards' boys basketball team really didn't have any time for Thanksgiving leftovers. That's because the Bulldogs had the difficult task of having to play twice on Friday. After not faring well in a 68-44 loss to Leo in a noon game, the Bulldogs had just a few hours to recover before taking on Marist in their final game in the Eisenhower Thanksgiving Tip-Off Classic. There wasn't any lingering tryptophan slowing them down, but the Bulldogs fell behind by 12 points at halftime and were never able to cut the deficit to less than five points in the second half.
