Oak Lawn Home Sales Up from a Year Ago

Representatives from the Mainstreet Organization of Realtors say there are signs of market acceleration as many south suburbs experienced "notable sales gains" last month compared to one year ago.

Single-family home sales in the Chicago suburbs grew 33.2 percent in April 2013, compared to the same month in 2012, according to data provided by the Mainstreet Organization of Realtors (MORe). In the south suburbs, sales in the majority of Patch communities aligned with this trend, with 12 out of 14 towns experiencing an increase in sales and only two towns experiencing a sales decrease. In Oak Lawn, 48 homes were sold in April 2013—compared to 31 in April 2012. The median price dropped 5.1 percent, from $157,104 to $149,065.  Palos Park saw the most growth in the Southland, with eight homes sold in April 2013 and compared to three homes sold one year prior, totaling a 166.7 percent increase in sales. Oak Lawn Sees Spike In February Homes Sales, Values

Representatives from the Mainstreet Organization of Realtors say affordable prices and low interest rates have created a "perfect storm" of buyer-friendly conditions.

Single-family home sales in the Chicago suburbs grew 41 percent in February 2013, compared to the same month in 2012, according to data provided by the Mainstreet Organization of Realtors (MORe). In the south suburbs, sales in the majority of Patch communities aligned with this trend, with 10 out of 14 towns experiencing an increase in sales, three towns experiencing a sales decrease and one town remaining the same year-over-year. Oak Lawn saw an increase in median home values in February over the same time period last year, from $140,000 to $154,625, or 10.5 percent. Oak Lawn Home Sales See January Bounce

Oak Lawn's home sales see gain but median prices are still lower year over year, says Mainstreet Realtors Organization.

The market for detached, single-family homes in suburbs throughout the Southland saw growth in January, MORe reported. MORe gets its statistics from Midwest Real Estate Data. Evergreen Park saw the largest percent increase, with 850 percent more homes sold year over year in January. There were 19 homes sold that month in 2013 and 2 in 2012. Palos Hills had the greatest drop, with 57.1 percent fewer homes sold year over year. That shakes out to 3 homes sold during January 2013 compared to 7 sold in January 2012. (It's worth noting the particularly small sample size.) Oak Lawn Home Sales, Values, Rise in November

Oak Lawn housing market made strong showing in November.

The 44 detached, single-family homes sold during November in Oak Lawn represented a 21.2 percent increase over November 2011, according to the Mainstreet Organization of Realtors (MORe). In addition, the median price of homes sold in November ($160,160) was 1.2 percent higher than the median price of homes sold in November 2011 ($145,000).  Follow Oak Lawn Patch on Facebook. The homes that the banks are holding back will be released slowly as to not affect the prices to much on there forclosure inventory. The banks want he prices to rise, not fall. Average Sale Price of Oak Lawn Homes on Downswing: October Home Sales

While Oak Lawn home sales are up, prices are down compared to October 2011.
