Boys Bowling: Richards, Oak Lawn Raise the Stakes in Neighborhood Rivalry

Richards and Oak Lawn blasted to a 1-2 finish in the Hinsdale South Sectional on Saturday at Willowbrook Lanes. Next, the two neighborhood rivals will be bowling on the IHSA's biggest stage in the state tournament.

They’re taking their neighborhood rivalry on the road and next will be competing on the biggest stage in IHSA boys bowling. Richards and Oak Lawn powered to a 1-2 finish in the Hinsdale South Sectional on Saturday at Willowbrook Lanes. Both will bowl next in the IHSA state tournament Friday and Saturday (Jan. 27-28) at St. Clair Bowl in downstate O’Fallon. Richards, led by senior Zak Engstrom, finished with a pinfall total of 6,322 in Saturday’s sectional. The Bulldogs topped Oak Lawn (6,134) by almost 200 pins. Engstrom led Richards with a series of 1,349, good for third place in the individual medalist chase. Brian Powers of St. Joseph won the individual title with his 1,405.
