I like this idea. There is space for such equipment at the Wolfe Wildlife site, which has a wonderful walking path that I use. I am anxious for spring so I can get out there again!   more ›

Oak Lawn Park District 2012 Employee Salaries

What do the people responsible for overseeing the parks, coaching your children and running special recreation programs make in a year?

In the spirit of transparency, Patch filed a freedom of information act request for Oak Lawn Park District employees’ annual salries for 2012. Sign up for Oak Lawn Patch breaking news alerts and follow us on Facebook. The park district does not post employee salaries on its website, then again, it still doesn’t offer online registration to residents either for classes and activities. While not posted on the park district’s website (the park district still lags behind other nearby communities by not offering online registration for classes and programs) salaries are available for viewing at the administration building at 9400 S. Andy, Joe, Oak Lawn guy, old timer and freddie. Why do you demonize me personally when all I did was make a valid conservative commentary on the state of the state and union. As for Andy, I paid for my pension and am not eligible for SSC for another three years. I paid in $110,000 into SSC. As far as I am concerned the SSC system can cut me a check now for the same amount and I will sign off to …   more ›

Local School, Park and Library Board Races Uncontested

Candidates trickle in to run for school, library and park board races in April 2013 election; some vacancies still remain.

Oak Lawn residents appear satisfied with how the public schools, parks and library are being run in the village. All of the local races in the upcoming consolidated election on April 9, 2013 are uncontested. “I tend to look at it that people are okay and happy,” Dist. 229 Superintendent Dr. Michael Riordan said. “Usually when things are in turmoil, that’s when people jump in.” The deadline for filing nominating petitions for all local races was at 5 p.m. Dec. 26. The last chance to file a challenge against a candidate's filing petitions is Jan. 3. The Oak Lawn Village Board offers the only contested races, with ten candidates filing petitions for village trustee seats in Districts 1, 2, 4 and 6. The mayoral and village clerk seats are also…

WOOFSTOCK: Peace, Love and Puppies

Oak Lawn Park District's third annual Woofstock doggie fest was a howling success. See the photo gallery and video.

More than 100 two-legged and four-legged revelers showed up at Bailey's Crossing Dog Park for Woofstock. Follow Oak Lawn Patch on Facebook. The third annual party in the park for people and dogs was hosted by the Oak Lawn Park District on Saturday. Dogs and their peeps visited with each and checked out the vendors. There were doggie dashes, an owner-dog look-alike contest, and competitions to see who could do the most tricks in 30 seconds. Check out the gallery and video. Please add your own photos and video.
