Man Who Reported Public Indecency Tells His Story

The man who called police on Daniel Vorberg, who was charged with public indecency after he was reported to have masturbated in his car near a Mount Greenwood school, speaks out about the incident.

The man who is the witness to a recent Mt. Greenwood crime wants to make sure people understand exactly what happened.  He says that he and his fiance are the two witnesses to the alleged crimes of Daniel Vorberg, 30, the Oak Lawn man they say was masturbating in a car on the 11200 block of S. Spaulding Ave. just down the street from Cassell School in Mount Greenwood. On April 30, around 4 p.m., his fiance saw a car parked on the street on the side of their home, something seemed off. In front of the house around their porch was a group of about six kids, between six and nine years of age, he said. From their home his fiance says she saw Vorberg allegedly masturbating while pointing his phone at the group of children, he said. She called …

Congressman Lipinski To Hold Oak Lawn Town Hall Meeting, May 11

Constituents can get up close and personal with the congressman, ask questions, and get help with federal programs.

All Illinois Third Congressional District residents are invited to attend a town hall meeting hosted by Congressman Dan Lipinski at Oak Lawn Village Hall on Saturday, May 11. Residents will be able to hear from Congressman Lipinski about his work at home and in Washington, as well as ask questions and give their thoughts on federal issues. Congressman Lipinski’s staff will be on hand 30 minutes before the meeting starts to assist constituents with Medicare, Social Security, veterans’ benefits and other federal programs and matters. Spotted: Coyote Takes Sunday Stroll in Oak Lawn

An Oak Lawn Patch reader captured pictures of a coyote running down 102nd Street and 52nd Avenue.

An Oak Lawn Patch Facebook fan spotted a coyote taking a brisk stroll in an Oak Lawn residential neighborhood Sunday morning.  The coyote was spotted around 10:45 a.m. on Sunday, April 28 at 102nd Street and 52nd Avenue by Brian Pletsch who was able to snap a few quick pics. Memorial Service for Homeless Fire Victim Set for Saturday

Family wishes to invite Good Samaritans who tried to help James Brewer when he was on fire to his memorial service this Saturday.

The homeless man that died earlier this month when he was found burning in next to some dumpsters is finally being laid to rest. A memorial service for James “Jim” Brewer is being planned for this Saturday (April 27) at Our Lady of the Ridge Catholic Church in Chicago Ridge. As citizens waited for first responders to arrive, they tried to put out the fire on Brewer. Special Cleanup Crews Start Friday for Water-Damaged Items

Allied Waste Services asks residents to place water-damaged carpeting, furniture and other large items curbside for special pickup this week and next.

Allied Waste—the village’s waste hauler—said that crews will be picking up water damaged items starting Friday and after regular service next week, or until the last soggy sofa is put curbside. Before you haul that carpet curbside or other water-damaged items, however, Allied and the village advise residents to contact their insurance companies and photograph damaged property. Flash Flood Warning In Effect for Oak Lawn

The National Weather Service issued a flash flood warning for Southeastern Cook County effective until noon Thursday.

Runoff from Wednesday afternoon’s torrential downpours and more rain forecasted for Thursday is posing a flash flood threat to southeastern Cook County until noon, according to the National Weather Service.  Much of the warning area has already received between 1 and 3 inches of rainfall during the day Wednesday, with the potential for another 1 to 2 inches through Thursday. Areas that may experience flooding includ Alsip and Blue Island. Thursday's forecast calls for more heavy rain of possibly one to two inches, as another line of thunderstorms is expected to move through the area, with highes reaching 72 degrees.
