Ruse Burglars Target Elderly Couple in Hickory Hills

Police are searching for two men who tried to lie their way into the couple's home.

Police are searching for two men involved in a Hickory Hills ruse burglary on March 8 that targeted an elderly couple. One is a 5-foot, 8-inch, heavy-set man with bad teeth who was wearing dark clothes, a reflective vest and a tool belt. The other man had his face covered. They were last seen leaving the area in a white minivan. The elderly couple lives near 94th Street and 77th Avenue in Hickory Hills. The heavy-set man walked up to the couple's door and claimed their neighbor had a basement water leak, police said. Oak Lawn Man Charged in Palos Park Ruse Burglary

Suspect was picked up in traffic stop in Oak Lawn, sheriff's police say.

A 43-year-old, Oak Lawn man was arrested after he was identified as a possible suspect in a residential burglary in unincorporated Palos Park. Elderly victims cleaned out of $170,000 collectively in south suburbs from UK lottery scam.

Ruse Burglars Strike in Hickory Hills

Ruse burglars, those who con their way into the homes of elderly victims, are moving through the area. The latest victims live in Hickory Hills, cops warn.

Hickory Hills Police are looking for a suspect who tricked his way into his elderly victims’ home and robbed a safe in what is being described as a ruse burglary. The elderly victims told police that a man came to their front door and said he had just purchased a home near them. Man With Protruding Ears Thwarted In Ruse Burglary

Police say man crawled under overhead garage door left ajar at elderly homeowner's townhome.

A man with protruding ears is wanted for questioning in an attempted ruse burglary. Oak Lawn police say that he and two other men attempted to enter an elderly homeowner’s townhome but were scared off by her daughter-in-law. Police said the elderly homeowner left her overhead garage door ajar when she left her townhome on the 11400 block of South Foxwood Drive on March 22. Plucky Senior Scares Off Ruse Burglars

Senior stops ruse burglary after remembering other incidents where seniors' homes were robbed while being steered out of the house.

A man tried to lure an elderly woman out of her house while his accomplice tried to get inside in an attempted ruse burglary on the 8700 block of South 49th Court, police said. The 73-year-old woman said that a man in his early thirties with a shaved head and wearing a white T-shirt knocked on her door around 2:30 p.m. Oct. 3. Speaking in broken English, the man asked the woman to step outside and help him. He asked her if she spoke Spanish and if anybody else was inside the house as he walked her down the driveway. The woman told him her husband was home. Police said that all the while she could hear her dog barking inside the house.
