Update: Evergreen's Megan Beckow is Patch's MVP This Week

She scored 17 points, had five steals and four rebounds in a 67-23 girls basketball victory over Nobles Street-Muchin in the Class 3A DeLaSalle Regional.

UPDATE: The Winner in Patch Athlete of the Week Voting is ...

Providence Catholic wrestling standout Eddie Klimara won his fourth straight championship at the Dvorak Memorial tournament. And then he outpolled five others to take Patch Athlete of the Week honors.

Providence Catholic's Eddie Klimara outpolled five others in voting for Patch Athlete of the Week, Dec. 18-24. He is now eligible for December Patch Athlete of the Month recognition. The candidates: LaTondra Brooks, sophomore, guard, girls basketball, Oak Lawn. Brooks scored 41 points in Spartan victories over Rich East (65-60) and Romeoville (63-56). Eddie Klimara, senior, wrestling, Providence Catholic. Klimara won the 126-pound championship at the Dvorak Memorial tournament. He became the second individual to win four straight titles at one of the state’s premier holiday events. The first was a former teammate, Edwin Cooper. Donald Moore, senior, guard, boys basketball, Bloom Township. Moore scored 18 points in the Trojans’ 59-50 …

Update: The Patch Athlete of the Week is ...

Ricky Robertson. The name is a household one in wrestling circles. Now, it's the name of the Patch Athlete of the Week, too. The Sandburg standout emerged as the winner in fan voting.

Sandburg wrestling standout Ricky Robertson outpolled five others in voting for Patch Athlete of the Week, Dec. 11-17. Now, he is eligible for December Patch Athlete of the Month recognition. The candidates were: Brad Foster, senior, center, boys basketball, Lincoln-Way Central. Foster scored 23 points, grabbed eight rebounds and blocked four shots in a 47-43 victory over district rival Lincoln-Way West. He also made 10-of-16 shots and sank a pair of free throws in the final seconds to ice the victory for Central. Tiana Karopulos, junior, guard/forward, girls basketball, Andrew. UPDATE: And the Winner in Patch Athlete of the Week Voting is ...

Marian Catholic junior forward Megan Walsh put up big numbers for the Spartans in the Chi-Town Showdown. And she put up big numbers in Patch Athlete of the Week voting, too.

Megan Walsh outpolled five others in voting for Patch Athlete of the Week, Dec. 4-10. Walsh is now eligible for December Patch Athlete of the Month recognition. The candidates were: Jubril Adekoya, junior, forward, boys basketball, Andrew. Adekoya scored 20 points and hauled down 13 rebounds in the T-Bolts’ 81-51 victory over Stagg. Brooke Annerino, sophomore, guard, girls basketball, Oak Lawn. Annerino was pretty in pink in the Spartans’ 67-59 victory over Oak Forest on Pink Out Night. She scored 20 points and helped promote Oak Lawn’s breast cancer awareness fundraising efforts. Colin Holler, junior, wrestling, Sandburg.
