Police Investigate Saturday's Chuck E. Cheese's Shooting

Man shot at was targeted for gang ties, cops said.

The 20-year-old man who was sitting in his car in the east parking lot of Chuck E. Cheese's restaurant in Oak Lawn on Saturday was a self-admitted gang member, Oak Lawn police said. The 20-year-old had told Patch on Saturday that he was bringing a birthday cake back to his car after attending his child's birthday party at the restaurant at 4301 W. 95th St. He was sitting in his car when shots rang out and dove beneath the steering wheel as bullets were fired into the side of the car. Gunshots Fired Outside of Chuck E. Cheese's

No injuries have been reported but a car was hit in the parking lot. Man sitting inside the car said he dove under the steering wheel to avoid being hit.

About ten gunshots were reported fired in the parking lot outside of Chuck E. Cheese at 4301 W. 95th St in Oak Lawn around 8:45 p.m. Saturday. Sign up for Oak Lawn Patch breaking news alerts. A 21-year-old man attending his child’s birthday party at the fun emporium said he had just put a birthday cake inside his car that was parked on the east side of the restaurant facing Pulaski Road. He was sitting in the front driver’s seat when he heard gunshots. “When I got and in and closed the door I heard three or four shots, boom, boom, boom,” he said. “I dived under the steering wheel and I heard five more shots when the cops came up.
