Oak Lawn police investigated a bizarre note discovered in the overnight drop box of a local bank around 9 a.m. Oct. 29, reports said. Cicero Ave., said someone placed a brown paper napkin wrapped around two money gram orders in the overnight drop box. The napkin contained a note and was addressed to the Illinois State Police. The letter writer identified herself and stated that her brother was being starved and held captive in the Crestwood Police Station shed. WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 23 A 34-year-old man reported that a suspicious person who called himself Maurice came to his door and asked for money around 7 p.m. Maurice said his wife was delivering a baby at Northwestern Hospital and had locked himself out of his apartment. The man said Maurice needed money to get to the hospital. Police said the man drove Maurice to an ATM at 95th Street and Keeler Avenue, where he withdrew $20 and gave it to Maurice. He dropped Maurice off at an apartment building where he said he lived. The man said Maurice did not threaten him and that he gave Maurice the money out of generosity.
