Families and supporters pack Oak Lawn Village Hall to watch the changing of the guard.
There was a lot of swearing at Tuesday's meeting of the Oak Lawn Village Board -- swearing in that is. New trustees were seated after being administered their oaths of office by fellow Oak Lawn resident and Cook County Judge Denise K. Filan. Jane Quinlan held her mother's hand as she was sworn into her third term as the village clerk. Sign up for Oak Lawn Patch breaking news alerts and follow us on Facebook. Terry Vorderer said becoming the fourth district trustee and sitting on the dais was the "culimination of a dream" after his many years of watching village board meetings as an Oak Lawn police officer. During one of the oaths, Alex Olejniczak, had to correct Filan when she attempted to swear him in as the Dist. 1 trustee. "You mean …

Alex Olejniczak was re-elected to his third term as the Dist. 2 trustee on the Oak Lawn Village Board, trouncing Mayor’s Independence Party challenger, Julie Misner, by capturing 66 percent of the 1,525 votes cast in the second district. Trustee Tom Duhig says opponent never showed up to community or planning commission meetings on Advocate Christ Medical Center expansion.
By TOM DUHIG I am writing in response to a letter written by one of my opponents and published in the Patch Thursday morning. In the letter, he asks “What has happened” in the last four years in regards to the Advocate Christ Medical Center expansion. Since Mr. Vorderer has not attended a single planning or community meeting involving the hospital until he launched his political campaign, it is no surprise that he is clueless as to the strides the Village has taken to ensure that the responsible growth of Christ Hospital will not come on the backs of Oak Lawn taxpayers. I would like to take this opportunity to inform the residents exactly what has happened over the past four years and my plan for the next four years. I have attended …

Oak Lawn trustee candidate Terry Vorderer says current trustee has failed to outline a plan addressing Dist. 4's concerns about Advocate Christ Medical Center.

Thursday, April 4
By TERRY VORDERER With your vote on April 9, you will be choosing a trustee for Dist. 4. Christ Hospital and its expansion is a major issue for Dist. 4 and certainly even more for the residents that live in its shadow. I, too, live within two blocks of its front door, so I am well aware of its impact on our neighborhood. It is my opinion that our current trustee has failed to address many of our concerns with the hospital. He may argue that he has worked to effect change, but I suggest he has failed to accomplish change. No individual politician controls the agenda. To be effective, a trustee needs to understand that there are many others involved in the process that also have ideas and concerns. In order to accomplish the objectives of…

Name: Tom Duhig Position sought: Trustee 4th District Campaign contact information: Use as much space as you need. 1. What is the primary reason you are running for this office? I have always used common sense and worked with our residents to ensure outcomes that minimize tax implications while getting the best financial outcomes for our tax dollars concerning the hospital, our water system, and new retail as well as mixed development projects. 2. Why do you deserve to be elected/reelected? What sets you apart from the other candidate(s)? I don't believe I deserve to be re-elected. I believe I have to earn the respect and confidence of the residents and voters who put me in office four years ago. I have always said, "If it's …

Name: Tim Reilly Position sought: 4th District trustee Campaign contact information: Use as much space as you need. 1. What is the primary reason you are running for this office? Representation in the 4th District has been a real tragedy the last 4 years. There have been no monthly resident meetings, None! There have been no resident updates or mailings (except requests for re-election fundraising…amazing!) Contact with and in the name of residents has been virtually non-existent unless tied to some political motive. It is Time for a Change. 2. Why do you deserve to be elected/reelected? What sets you apart from the other candidate(s)? First, I am the only candidate with business AND board experience; the other two candidates are …
