Trustee Tom Duhig says opponent never showed up to community or planning commission meetings on Advocate Christ Medical Center expansion.
By TOM DUHIG I am writing in response to a letter written by one of my opponents and published in the Patch Thursday morning. In the letter, he asks “What has happened” in the last four years in regards to the Advocate Christ Medical Center expansion. Since Mr. Vorderer has not attended a single planning or community meeting involving the hospital until he launched his political campaign, it is no surprise that he is clueless as to the strides the Village has taken to ensure that the responsible growth of Christ Hospital will not come on the backs of Oak Lawn taxpayers. I would like to take this opportunity to inform the residents exactly what has happened over the past four years and my plan for the next four years. I have attended …

Name: Tom Duhig Position sought: Trustee 4th District Campaign contact information: Use as much space as you need. 1. What is the primary reason you are running for this office? I have always used common sense and worked with our residents to ensure outcomes that minimize tax implications while getting the best financial outcomes for our tax dollars concerning the hospital, our water system, and new retail as well as mixed development projects. 2. Why do you deserve to be elected/reelected? What sets you apart from the other candidate(s)? I don't believe I deserve to be re-elected. I believe I have to earn the respect and confidence of the residents and voters who put me in office four years ago. I have always said, "If it's …
Challenger Tim Reilly is running against the one-term incumbent village board and another independent challenger. Reilly is running on the Mayor's Independence Party slate.

Name: Tim Reilly Position sought: 4th District trustee Campaign contact information: Use as much space as you need. 1. What is the primary reason you are running for this office? Representation in the 4th District has been a real tragedy the last 4 years. There have been no monthly resident meetings, None! There have been no resident updates or mailings (except requests for re-election fundraising…amazing!) Contact with and in the name of residents has been virtually non-existent unless tied to some political motive. It is Time for a Change. 2. Why do you deserve to be elected/reelected? What sets you apart from the other candidate(s)? First, I am the only candidate with business AND board experience; the other two candidates are …

Oak Lawn is my home and I care about it. 34 years as a police officer, I know the streets and parks like the back of my hand. I know the people, and I am lucky to call many of them my friends. Oak Lawn has given me so much, and I am grateful. I feel I have a lot to give back to this Village as an elected official. 2. Why do you deserve to be elected/re-elected? What sets you apart from the other candidate(s)? Unlike my opponents, I have a 40-year history of service to the Village of Oak Lawn. As an Oak Lawn police officer, I was promoted…

Tim Reilly, who is running for Dist. 4 trustee on the Oak Lawn Village Board, criticizes remarks made by the incumbent trustee that the village place liens on homeowners for repair of public sidewalks.
Monday, January 14
By TIM REILLY At the January 9, 2013 Oak Lawn Village Board meeting there was a discussion about making improvements to sidewalks. Under the voluntary 50/50 program residents agree to pay half the cost of sidewalk repairs even though the sidewalks are publicly owned on village easement. One trustee proposed prioritizing the worst sidewalks and going ahead with repairs to minimize suits against the village regardless of the homeowner’s interest in having the work done. In the same discussions, District 4 trustee Tom Duhig proposed that the Village place a lien on property when an owner fails to contribute 50 percent of the sidewalk repair work. I am astonished that a district trustee would propose initiating a formal legal process against …
