Kids Get a Bit of Christmas Early Thanks to Nonprofit Group

Together We Cope brings early Christmas cheer to 1,800 children. Organization is still accepting holiday donations for children and teens.

Employees and volunteers from Together We Cope got to play the role of Santa early this year, handing out donated Christmas gifts last week to families in need as part of the nonprofit's Adopt a Child program. READ: Together We Cope Provides Christmas for Needy Kids This year, the program had 1,800 children from needy families, up from last year's 1,300. Although the program is officially over for the year, Together We Cope is still accepting donations for children who weren't sponsored. Donors can find out what is needed by calling 708-633-5040, and more information can be found on the nonprofit group's website. …

Together We Cope Provides Christmas for Local Kids in Need

The organization which serves families across the southwest suburbs says need is increasing.

Together We Cope and its Adopt a Child program hopes to create Christmas smiles for nearly 1,800 local children this holiday season. Instead of empty stockings, these children will be able to unwrap gifts given to them by strangers who care. In these ongoing difficult economic times, Together We Cope turns to the communities it serves and asks for help. In turn they help individuals and families in need in four townships: Bremen, Orland,  Palos and Worth. The communities they serve include Oak Lawn and Evergreen Park and 24 other nearby towns. When it comes to the annual gift drive the sponsors have been generous, according to Margaret Seltzner, communications manager at Together We Cope. The Adopt a Child program brings together children …

Oak Lawn Gown Shop Pays it Forward to Blushing Brides in Tinley Park

That generosity most recently showed up at NU2U resale shop in downtown Tinley Park where Eva's owner Ronia Ghusein sent donated dresses that have gone unused. The cluster of about 100 gowns were originally sent to Eva's Bridal last year from donors around the country who wanted to replace customers' lost dresses. But they will be showcased Wednesday night at NU2U's first ever Bride on a Budget expo, in which blushing brides-to-be can buy them for $50…
