Village Board Ponders Impact of Video Gaming on Oak Lawn

Oak Lawn Village Board weighs pros and cons of video gambling machines and influx of liquor license applications.

Existing businesses that serve liquor as well as new businesses coming into town are making a run at Lady Luck by applying for video gaming licenses in Oak Lawn. J. J., legal gambling machines are obviously going to pay out more money than "for-amusement-only" machines because FAO machines were being used for illegal purposes if they paid out any money at all.   more ›

  It’s the fourth Tuesday of the month and you know what that means, the Oak Lawn Village Board’s second bimonthly meeting. See the attached pdf of the sub-zero, Chilly Willy village board agenda. Here’s what we’ll be watching: The Oak Lawn Village Board meeting starts at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 22, at Village Hall, 9466 S. I can imagine the fine food and friendly atmosphere that will be offered at those two proposed video gaming cafes! How about approving all of the pending licenses before you give an edge to some corporation that wants to do the bare minimum required to milk this community instead of support it.
