Oak Lawn Man Leads Cops on Foot Chase

Evergreen Park Police said a man pushed another man, then later attempted to take a cop’s gun.

An Oak Lawn resident punched a man in the mouth, causing him to bleed, then led police on a foot chase through the man’s yard, reports said. According to Evergreen Park Police, Hassan A. Kurdi, 22 was charged with battery on March 11. Police said they responded to a call claiming that someone was hit by a bottle in the 101 block of Utica Avenue at 4:14 p.m. When officers arrived, they saw Kurdi running out of the yard of an Evergreen Park home, reports said. As police were stopping Kurdi, he attempted to take a gun from an officer three times, according to reports. “The police officer struck Kurdi and he released his grip,” police said aid, then police handcuffed Kurdi and took him to the police station. UPDATE: Cops Charge Man With Selling Drugs From Oak Lawn Hotel Parking Lot

Evergreen Park police arrested a man who they said was selling drugs out of the Midway Inn and Suites parking lot.

 Updated March 14: According to Evergreen Park Police, they received information that Jones was selling drugs outside of the parking lot. Hotel manager Tony Kosir said he was not a resident of the hotel. Evergreen Park police helped catch a man who sold drugs out of an Oak Lawn hotel parking lot, according to reports. Police said tactical officers got a tip that someone was selling drugs outside of Midway Inn and Suites parking lot, 9320 S. Cicero Ave. On Feb. 11, police set up a drug exchange to catch Vern S. Jones, 19, of Chicago, in the act, according to reports. Police Charge Man with Criminal Damage to a Car Linked to an Oak Lawn Auto Theft

Police said an Evergreen Park man, who was seen with two men around a Jeep, was charged with criminal damage to property on a car that was reported stolen from Oak Lawn the previous day.

Evergreen Park Police said Sean P. Morrison, 18, of Evergreen Park, was charged with criminal damage to property, accusing him of damaging a man’s car by breaking out the rear window of a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee in the 3200 block of W. 97th St. at about 3:20 p.m. on Aug. 6. The Jeep was reported stolen out of Oak Lawn. According to reports, police spoke with a landlord for an apartment building in that block, who said that a red Jeep parked behind the building didn’t belong to anyone in the building, and that three young men who were standing around the Jeep said it belonged to a friend.
