Chicago Ridge Mall Under 'Flash Mob Alert'

Group reported to have planned mob action at Chicago Ridge Mall fails to show up on Saturday. Area police maintain high, visible presence at mall and are expected to return on Sunday.

An organized “flash mob” rumored to take place at the Chicago Ridge Mall turned out to be a big bust as police kept up a visible, high presence throughout the mall on Saturday. Chicago Ridge Police alerted stores in the mall on Friday stating they had received “credible intelligence” that the same group responsible for organizing last week’s mob action at Ford City was planning to gather at Chicago Ridge Mall the next day. Connect to Patch: Oak Lawn / Beverly-Mt. Greenwood / Evergreen Park A similar alert was also sent to businesses along Michigan Avenue’s “Magnificent Mile,” WGN TV news reported. Precautions were taken at Chicago Ridge after several hundred youths and adults entered Ford City Mall in the late afternoon of Feb. 23 with the…

Ford City Mall Melee Videos Hit YouTube

A large group of dozens of teens descended on Ford City Mall and the surrounding neighborhood Saturday evening. Videos contain strong language.

A large group of dozens of teens stormed through Ford City Mall and surrounding parking lots Saturday night resulting in more than a dozen arrests.  Video posted to YouTube shortly after the incident show rowdy teens outside of the mall tying up traffic and in one instance throwing a chair at a passing car. The crowd descended on the mall less than an hour after an appearance by the boy band Mindless Behavior. Mall officials posted to their Facebook page that the event was not related to the later violence: Thank you to all the Mindless Behavior fans who attended today's meet & greet. Totally unrelated to today's event, a group of unruly teens entered the mall and caused a disturbance. On the recommendation of the Chicago Police Department…

But these are kids...they didn't screw themselves up day one, their parents did...society did. But they have cell phones and access to computers (or they could just have a smart phone since you can access social media through them)....so they must be okay. Just because one has an iPhone, Coach purse or diamond ring doesn't mean they're financially okay or mentally stable or have the support they …   more ›

Large Mob at Ford City Mall Results in Injuries and Arrests

A large mob of unruly teens resulted in two injuries and damage at Ford City Mall Saturday evening, according to reports.

Dozens of police units from Chicago and surrounding suburbs descended on Ford City Mall Saturday afternoon after a large group of unruly teens began to wreak havoc, according to reports.  Around 4:45 p.m. police were called to the mall, 7601 S. Cicero Ave., after a group of "a group of older youths" entered the mall and began to cause a disturbance, according to the Chicago Tribune. The incident occurred shortly after a widely promoted appearance by the boy band Mindless Behavior. The Tribune reports that about 1,000 children and adults were at the mall for the appearance and that the chaos broke out around 45 minutes after the appearance ended.  A mall spokesperson denied that the event had anything to do with the ensuing incident and …

Oak Lawn police reports, Feb. 2 through Feb. 8.

FRIDAY FEBRUARY 8 A 25-year-old Oak Lawn man was charged with public indecency when he was spotted urinating behind a bar in the 9700 block of South Cicero Avenue. Officers observed Michal A. Isn't Chuck E's biz license up for renewal April 1st? Maybe its time for a petition to not renew their license? What is the benefit of keeping this biz here? Draws crime to that surrounding area as well. It is very frustrating as a OL resident with kids to have to avoid going to certain areas & businesses in my own village! OL also loses revenue when its residents go to other burbs to spend their…   more ›
