Police: Registered Sex Offender Lost and Found Again

Registered sex offender turns up at registered address after disappearing, cops say.

A convicted sex offender in violation of not registering with police was found at his Oak Lawn address after disappearing for several weeks, reports said. Sign up for Oak Lawn Patch breaking news alerts. Leron T. Hampton, 37, was taken into custody and charged with a felony failure to register at his apartment in the 9700 block of South Pulaski Road. Oak Lawn police had attempted to locate Hampton at this address numerous times in October, until he was eventually deemed in violation of the Illinois Sex Offender's Act as "address unknown," police said. Cops Nab Non-Compliant Sex Offender in Park

Man found sitting by himself in bleachers near baseball field after dark was non-compliant with Illinois Sex Offender Act, police said.

A man spotted sitting by himself in the bleachers in a baseball field after dark turned out to be an unregistered sex offender, reports said. While on patrol, an Oak Lawn police officer spotted a man identified as Jaybee Holmes Jr., 28, sitting in the dark at the Westside Baseball Field at 9400 Oak Park Ave. around 8:05 p.m. Oct. 28. Asked why he was sitting in the park along after it had closed, Holmes allegedly told police he had been trying to catch a bus and had stopped to rest his legs. I don't want anyone hanging around for no reason in the park after dark and oh by the way he is a registered sex offender. Doesn't every almost 30 year old young adult just go sit on the bleachers after dark by themselves in their spare time.
