Depends on how you define "root cause" Sure--wildlife or wind or ice storm may be the initial cause of the chain of events. But if there is human error down the road that results in a huge power surge--then they can still say the cause was an act of nature. I thought that the systems were designed to prevent huge surges? Any former com ed workers care to explain to those of us in the dark about how that works?

Chief said he was told the village would be reimbursed. Unless he was specifically instructed to submit the paperwork and insure the $ was collected--where is there a question about his integrity.

I think it goes without saying that the ideal is to address the problems on all levels. First, if the consequences were greater, maybe that would curtail gang violence and crime. I hate the term "repeat offender". If someone is at risk of hurting themselves and others wouldn't they be safer in jail......I suspect we would be. MY comment related to innocent bystanders getting hurt. If you want to punch, shoot or yell at someone---then find the person, look them in the eye and do what you are going to do. It would be ideal if we could get everyone to sit down and talk about it and come to a compromise....but that is probably not going to happen. I said if they NEED to kill each other--(I didn't say they should)--then at least they should be proficient enough in the chosen behavior to locate their object of their aggression and not kill or would innocent people including children by "mistake". If the consequences were greater, swift and certain they would have to change strategy and save the bullets.

I agree with Dr Shelton in respect to the problem lies with too many gang members running around and shooting at each other--being so bad at it that they miss the intended target and kill innocent people. The justice system allows these cowards to get arrested and go back on the street because why--they were a lousy shot and missed killing anyone the first time. I would rather my tax dollars work to keep the gang bangers off the street than more security and hospital bills to patch them up. If they were locked up, then there would be less gang members to shot each other and innocent bystanders. If the consequences (remember them) were greater then maybe they would think twice (or maybe once) before spraying bullets around. If they really need to kill each other--then at least be good at it. Get your target without involving innocent people and frightening the communities.

Sorry- Jane can stay.....and has my vote. Like a good team player, she plays well with others and supports the decisions that are made to execute and does her job without any apparent hidden agenda. I think there was a quote that says debate the decisions during discussion ..but once the decision is made execute like it was your idea.

Glad someone is running for 1st district. As of now Jack Desmond has my vote. I attended a meeting where Dave H. presented candidates to replace Jerry and asked for our opinion. Cindy Trautsch was NOT one of those people and nothing I read explained why she was the most qualified . So far, I have not seen her do anything memorable other than be quite (which may be an accomplishment). Also as a resident of the 1st district, I have never met her, heard of her reaching out to residents of Dist1. I tried to contact he and the web site did not have an alternate contact number (cell) and voice mail was never returned. She strikes me as disengaged and too busy --gee lets make the meetings shorter so I can get home and do what I really need to do. In private industry someone who is temporarily holding a position and REALLY wants the job will work very hard to prove they are worthy and contributing.. Showing up at the board meetings, not engaging with the people you serve and not being available does not demonstrate a drive or passion for the job-in my opinion. Also, clearly the current board is not working together for the good of Oak Lawn. Good or bad, I say vote out all the incumbents and start over. If the new candidates prove to be no better incumbents can run again. Oh...and send them all to the best team building camp we can find and a couple of "play nice" seminars before the 1st board meeting.
