The Right Way to Run a Meeting

apologize for actions at board meeting

At the last Oak Lawn Village Board Meeting, I was removed from the meeting for a verbal outburst I made from the audience during an argument between village board members. I am if anything a passionate person,I love my town of which I have lived in for 45 years. I have been attending board meetings for over 20 years. When I believe I see hypocrisy and double standards at the board table I voice my opinion. I was wrong and regret the act. I have spoken before and unfortunately this time I had to leave. The police were just doing their job. I have trouble trying to follow Roberts Rules of order at meetings when certain elected officials do not follow the rules either. Two wrongs do not make a right though and I apologize. I must tell you that this meeting was run much better by New Village president Dr. Sandra Bury than any of the other previous meetings under the Dave Heilmann administration. I guess I was so used to expressing my opinions because of the numerous fights at the old meetings, I forgot there are rules to decorum. I will try to temper my enthusiasm at future meetings I just wish certain trustees would follow the rules as well and not call out private residents names at the Board meeting when the individual is not there to defend themselves. Once again I apologize for my actions    Andy Skoundrianos 45 year resident of Oak Lawn
