The caring never stops...

Even though school is out for summer, D123 continues to serve even the feathered members of our community.

Hometown Police and Fire and the District 123 maintenance staff helped save a family of baby ducks from a catch basin Wednesday evening.
After removing the manhole cover, the Hometown fire department lowered themselves in the manhole and removed nine ducklings.

The family of ducks was placed safely in the shade at Hometown Elementary where they were last seen recovering from all of the excitement.  The next time you are driving by Hometown Elementary, try and spot the flock, they could be seen walking together on Thursday morning.
