DNA Tests Reveal Oak Lawn Native Isn’t Who He Thinks He Is

A baby-snatching case thought solved since the mid '60s is now unraveled—leaving a former Oak Lawn man searching for his true identity.

An Oak Lawn native is suddenly amidst a serious identity crisis after DNA testing revealed he’s not who he thinks he is, the Sun-Times Media reports.

Paul Fronczak always though he was kidnapped from Michael Reese hospital when he was only two days old, only to be recovered fourteen months later alone in a stroller outside a Newark New Jersey store. Now, science says he’s not the same baby that was stolen from the Chicago hospital.

“I really feel in my heart that the real Paul Fronczak is alive and well and out there, and nothing would make me more happy in this life than to find the real kidnapped child and at the same time, I wouldn’t mind finding out who I am,” Fronczak told the Sun-Times Media.

Fronczak grew up in Oak Lawn where his parents still live. The 49-year-old is now married with a four-year-old daughter and is employed as a college administrator in Nevada.

Within the next few days, Chicago’s FBI office plans to decide whether they will take another look at the kidnapping. In the mean time, Fronczak is taking it upon himself to search for the true Paul Fronczak.
