Three Charged in Oak Lawn Home Invasion
Charges have been brought against three men who police said went to an Oak Lawn home with the intent to commit armed robbery. The home was targeted in a similar armed robbery last November.
Police arrested and charged three men nabbed after a home invasion in which a woman was shot. The crime has rocked a quiet neighborhood in Oak Lawn.
Timmie Walton, 26, of Midlothian, and Keon Thigpen, 22, and Kennedy Clark, 50, both of Chicago, have been charged with attempted murder, aggravated kidnapping and home invasion.
Police said Walton, Thigpen and Clark showed up at a residence on the 10100 block of South Buell Court shortly after midnight intending to commit armed robbery. The men removed two women from the front porch of their house and walked them to the rear entrance where they forcibly entered the home.
Once inside, a male relative confronted the men and shot at them with a shotgun but missed. A 24-year-old woman was shot in the arm. She was treated at and released from Advocate Christ Medical Center, police said.
One of the victims owns a store in Chicago. Police said the storeowner was the victim of an attempted armed robbery at the same address in November 2010. No one has been charged in that incident.
The Oak Lawn Police Department is investigating both crimes for links.
Police said Walton and Thigpen are affiliated with the same Chicago street gang.
The three men appeared in court Friday morning and were denied bail.
