Welcome back, Patch Blogger!

Vote for the Best Pie in the Pizza Playoffs

We're looking for the pizza lover's pizza. But we need your help, and your vote, for the most loved pizza in Oak Lawn and Evergreen Park.

Getting ready for Sunday's game? Got the big screen TV and your favorite pizza place on speed dial? When the big game ends, we may have a champion but the debate over who's really the best never ends.

That's true for pizza, too. But Patch's Pizza Playoffs aims to find The Most Loved Pizza in the Southland.

Folks in Oak Lawn and Evergreen Park know what they like.

"Definitely Rosangela's. My family won't eat from anywhere else!" — Tom McNamara

"Palermo's. Can't beat their sauce." — Sandy Bose

"Phil's! Saying otherwise is blasphemous!" — Ed Tierney

"Grassano's is already the best in the Midwest. Actually I think it's the best in the world." — Linda Stearns

Today's ballot includes local pizzas — no regional or national chains. Voting is open from Feb. 2 to Feb. 5.

The place to garner the most votes in this round advances to the championship round and faces winners from throughout South Suburban Patchland.

And talk up your favorite in the comments. Tell everyone why you love a particular pie!

Palermo's is great, but you'll never find a better pizza around here than Phil's. MUCH better ingredients AND great sauce. Palermo's fans: There's more to pizza than sauce

Phil's USED to be our favorite until Grassano's opened. Grassano's has a more authentic flavor.

When did Frankies start selling Pizza? Lots of great choices here. I grew up with so many. At the end of the day if I had to have only one style of pizza....Palermos regular crust. Let the controversy begin..........

I agree, Sue. Grassanos on 87th street can not be beat. Dominates in the kitchen as far as quality and consistency are concerned. great for the neighborhood.

If you like a sweet sauce, Palermos is the best!

Take out or delivery the service is first rate and the ability to "make it your way" outstanding.

Grassanos pizza is by far the best! From their low prices to their great food, not to mention the wonderful service. I do have to say that almost everytime I go there I see the owner in the kitchen working with his staff, and he always finds time to come out and greet the customers! Now thats dedication, and their hard work earns my vote.

Pizza-Man is the best pizza in the area and there prices are reasonable. You have really got to try their corned beef and cabbage pizza. they usually have it for like 6 weeks around St. Patrick's Day. LOOK FOR THE SIGN IN THE WINDOW!!!!!!

Phils Pizza is way overpriced, and not worth the 30 dollars a pizza costs. Especially considering the mark-up on that. What does a pizza cost to make five bucks, and they charge thirty.....Ridiculous.

Its not always the more you pay the better the pizza....Speaking from someone who ate phils once, and never again!! Not worth the deep hole it burnt in my wallet, and honestly it was just 'okay'...I was very mad when i bit into that canned mushroom, for real....thats not worth the 30 bucks, more like 30 cents!

Phils pizza is expensive because you pay for quality and quantity. Unlike the 10 pieces of sauage, aka dog meat, from other places. Don't know what '$5 pizza' your eatting but I'm sure no one else wants it.

Fox's is the best pizza in Chicago, but (no disrespect to OL) you have to go to the Beverly location. The sausage is seasoned perfectly, the crust has a cornflour dusting, and the sauce is just a little bit sweet. I dream about this pizza!

I agree with Steven, this isn't about stuffing votes ( I know we are close to Chicago!!! ) Everyone has favorites ,but to demean other places is sad and pathetic. We should want all the establishments to be successful. Stop the fighting between places which is obviously posted between owners and or families or friends please!!! Thank You

Phil's is pretty good, but is REALLY expensive...Palermo's is okay but pretty expensive also...Fox's is barely okay and not cheap and REALLY overrated. Pizza-Man used to be better but has slipped a bit and gotten a little more pricey (like almost everyplace, to be fair)...the best, by far, though, is Grassano's; they need to stop raising their prices, since I can't afford them as much now, but they are still the best for the money.
Now...as for Durbin's...they have a terrible pizza, they have had a terrible pizza for over twenty years. They skimp on ingredients, it is all sauce and crust, it takes forever to get an order out...they have the beer garden, they sponsor softball...so they engender loyalty from a bunch of drunk 20-30 year olds...trust me, I grew up with them, and I NEVER understood it until my one friend explained the 'appeal', as it were. I have been stuck eating there a thousand times and I don't know if my food was ever above mediocre. I would MUCH rather have Pizza Hut or Little Caeser's than Durbin's. Also, which location in Oak Lawn is being used for Durbin's? Because if you are using Burbank, there are better places to get pizza in Burbank, including two basically across the street form Grassano's on 87th.
Lastly, remember before it was Grassano's, it was Tafdes (or Taftes) Pizza? Now THAT pizza might have been worse than Durbin's...

I can't vote for any of them since I was diagnosed with Celiac and the only gluten free pizza I have tried from any of them (Palermo's) was awful (way to much sauce). May have to try a GF pizza from Baracco's although when I tried their regular pizza it was so bad I gave up on the second piece. Perhaps their GF is the opposite LOL.

I’d like a pizza topped with cheese
then sprinkled with some gnats and fleas,
some centipedes and slimy slugs,
and other creepy, crawly bugs.

I want to add some fingernails
and oyster ooze and crunchy snails
and chicken bones and spoiled meat
and smelly socks from dirty feet.

I want it topped with lots of mold
and gooey boogers (not too old),
a lot of snot, a little spit,
and guts with grimy, grainy grit.

I want the most disgusting crust
with spider webs and day-old dust
and dirt and mud and blood and gore
delivered to my sister’s door.

I voted for Palermos only because initially it said Oak Lawn or Evergreen Park. My favorite Southland pizza is from Joe's Italian Villa at 87th Harlem in Bridgeview. They make a thin crispy crust, savory sauce, tasty cheese and THE best sausage! Our family also likes Durbins, Grassanos, Fasanos (on Roberts Road) and Phils. It just depends how much money you have and what you have a taste for. We are very fortunate to live close to so many excellent restaurants!
