Covington School Collecting Donations for Samoska Family

School community is rallying behind a family who lost their home to a fire by collecting monetary donations, gift cards and other items to help them get back on their feet.

The staff and parents of Covington Elementary School are collecting donations for a mother and her four sons who were left homeless after they lost their home in a fire and explosion on Jan. 11.

Romana Samoska and her four children were left with just the clothes on their backs, except for a few belongings. Thankfully, the family is safe and were not injured in the fire. The family is currently staying with relatives in Oak Lawn.

The three younger boys are in fifth, fourth and second grade. To help the family through this difficult time, the school is enlisting community support.
