“Does It Matter Where We Pray?”

Liturgical design consultant J. Philip Horrigan, D. Min., will speak at Saint Xavier University's Theology South lecture series at 9:30 a.m. on Thurs., Dec. 2 at Saint Xavier in the Warde Academic Center's Butler Reception Room, 3700 W. 103rd St.

Horrigan's lecture, titled "Does It Matter Where We Pray?," explores the importance of architecture for worship and includes a visual presentation focusing on the relationship between the space for liturgies and the action of liturgies. The lecture costs $6 and coffee will be served at 9 a.m.

From 1997 to 2009, Horrigan worked for the Archdiocese of Chicago as the Director of the Department of Art and Architecture at the Office for Divine Worship. Horrigan acted as a consultant and resource person for all the parishes involved in a building or renovation project.
