Sprites, Spooks and Super Heroes Invade Oak Lawn

What showed up at your door? Some of our favorite costumes from Halloween 2011.

Patch friend and contributor Stacey Roseen snapped these photos of trick-or-treaters who came to her door in the Oak Meadows neighborhood. Stacey, who likes to dress up herself and decorate her yard for Halloween ran out of candy there were so many trick-or-treaters.

"Fortunately I had some Quaker Chewy granola bars and packaged Rice Krispie Treats in the pantry or I would have had to resort to dog biscuits," Stacey said, mom of two grown sons.

How many trick-or-treaters did you get? Any Halloween mischief to report? TELL US in the comments.

Don't worry, she didn't hand out dog biscuits, but said there were more trick-or-treaters than ever this year. They started coming around at 3 p.m. and didn't slow down until about 5 p.m., when it started getting dark. It was predominately the little ones.

"I can't remember when we've had so many trick or treaters on Halloween," Stacey said. "I did see one Oak Lawn police car patrolling around 5 p.m. It was nice to see so many young families out and about. It reminded me of when our boys were little."

We heard from one reader on Facebook who said that trick-or-treaters were still showing up at her door at 8:15 p.m., over an hour after village trick-or-treat hours were supposed to end at 7 p.m.
