Summer Camps: Patch Picks

Summer camps and workshops in the Oak Lawn and Evergreen Park area.

Summer is right around the corner, but now is the time to start thinking about summer camps. The Oak Lawn-Evergreen Park area offers a lot of options where kids and teens can work on their jump shot, learn about computers, play a musical instrument or work on their reading and math skills in a stress-free setting.

Dates/times: Monday through Friday, July 11-15 

Cost: $389

Location: Learn how to run, throw, catch, defend, and compete just like the Chicago Bears. The Bears are offering a non-contact football camp at Reavis High School, 6034 W. 77th St., Burbank. For info call 312-226-7776

 

Ages: 5-12

Dates/times: June 13-June 17

Little sluggers, 5-6 year olds, 1 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.

7-8 year olds 1 p.m. - 4 p.m.

9-12 year olds, 1 p.m. – 4 p.m.

Cost: $179

Location: Duffy Park, 9100 S. Millard Ave.

Kids get a chance to learn baseball from a few former pro athletes, collegiate and high school coaches, and full-time private instructors. Nonresidents are welcome to apply. Contact the Evergreen Park Recreation Department at 708-229-3373 to register.

 

Ages: 4-13

Dates/times: August 8-12 Ages 4-5, 9 a.m. - 10:30 a.m.; ages 5+ 9-12 p.m.

Cost: Ages 4-5 , $55; Ages 5+ $95

Location: Duffy Park, 9100 S. Millard Ave.

Future Soccer Pros will have the chance to learn the basics of the game from professional soccer trainers, collegiate and high school coaches and full-time private instructors. Nonresidents are welcome to apply. Contact the Evergreen Park Recreation Department at 708-229-3373 to register.

 

Ages: 6-11

Dates/times: June 15-August 9, Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.-3 p.m., with an early drop off of 8 a.m. and a late pick-up of 6 p.m.

Cost: $510 during regular hours, $10 more for early drop off and $30 extra per week for late pick-up.

Location: Camp for the 6-8 year-old group is held at the Activity Center 3220 w 98th street, while kids 9-11 years old go to Northwest Elementary School, 3630 W. 92nd St.

For approximately $2.20 per day, children will have the chance to go swimming twice a week, venture out on a filed trip once a week, do arts, crafts and sports. Only Evergreen Park residents are eligible to apply. Contact the Evergreen Park Recreation Department at 708-229-3373 to register.

 

Ages: Kids entering kindergarten-11

Dates/times: June 20-July 20, Tuesday and Thursday, 9:45 a.m. - 2:15 p.m.

Cost: $206

Location: Hamilton B. Maher Community Center, 3450 W. 97th St.

Kids will take part in indoor and outdoor games, arts and crafts during the five weeks.  Only Evergreen Park residents are eligible to apply. Contact the Evergreen Park Recreation Department at 708-229-3373 to register.

 

Ages: 3-5, potty-trained

Dates/times: June 13-July 22, Monday, Wednesday, Friday mornings 9 a.m.-11:30 a.m.

Cost: $206 for residents $226 for nonresidents

Location: Hamilton B. Maher Community Center Preschool room, 3450 W. 97th St.

Children will have play time, story time, do arts and crafts, outdoor games and participate in special events that come to the preschool during the term. Nonresidents are welcome to apply. Contact the Evergreen Park Recreation Department at 708-229-3373 to register.

 

OAK LAWN PARK DISTRICT 

Ages: PreK-High School

Cost: Varies per program. Early bird discounts available; non-residents pay additional fee.

Dates/times: June through August

Location: The park district offers a variety of camp options, including youth day camp with before and after camp care, sports and special recreation camps. Camps meet at various Oak Lawn parks. Open to residents and non-residents.


MORAINE VALLEY LEARNING CENTER

Ages: Kids through teens.

Cost: Varies per program.

Dates/times: June through August.

Location: Kids and teenagers can pursue their unique interests in classes created just for them from science and technology to art and theater workshops, sports and academic camps. All take place at Moraine Valle Community College. For more info all 708-974-5735 or e-mail wdcs@morainevalley.edu
