Volunteers will be stationed on street corners and in front of stores throughout the weekend collecting donations for one of the Southland’s most beloved social service organizations.

has collected more than $1 million since its annual Tag Days donation drive began in 1982. All proceeds will go toward Park Lawn’s residential, vocational and social programs for developmentally disabled adults.

The organization was founded in 1955 by a group of families in Evergreen Park and Oak Lawn who sought services and programs for their intellectually challenged children.

This weekend, volunteers will be distributing a new tag with information about the Park Lawn. For those who don’t have cash on them, they can text "GIVEPL" at 20222 for a $5 donation.

Orange-vested volunteers will be collecting for the organization from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday, April 20 through April 21.
