Why go: National Honor Society Members are hosting a Benefit Show to raise funds to support Autism Speaks Volumes. The following acts or individuals (high school students or alumni, except where noted) are scheduled to perform, including Chimp City, Jim Egan, Pat EGan, Christina Mangum, Alexandria Jones, Ryan Kress, Colin Allpow, Dana Kahn (5th grader from NE singing and playing guitar), Kedzie Alleys, Mark Matke, Tim Doran, Liz Daley, Justin Parks, Brandon Igunbor, Edgardo Zamora, Mackenzie Brzeczek, Napples, Julius Fassl, Chris Gortowski, Kyle Raddatz, Matt Allpow, The Suspects, Tom Ricci, Chris Lawson, Matt Bigeck, John Gorman, Upsetting Tradition, Brian Andersen, Kyle Ambre, Joe Camacho, Briana Lambrecht, Kevin Christensen, Lauren Jeschke, Jamal Rice, and Little Shop.

Where/When: Tinley Park Convention Center, 18501 Convention Center Dr., on Saturday, April 9, from 4-10 p.m.
Why Go: Chance to sample wares from an assortment of wineries, breweries and restaurants. A 2011 Dodge Caliber is one of the raffle prizes. There is twice as much space and twice as many vendors as last year.
Pricing: $20 in advance, $25 at the door, $10 for designated drivers
Where/When: Avenue Flower Shop and Wine, 10632 S. Cicero Ave., Oak Lawn, from 7-11 p.m.
Why go: Come enjoy your own private wine tasting and the music of Peter Whalen and his tribute to the great James Taylor. Avenue has 68 great wines, and a wide selection of craft beers and a small food menu.

‘ANYTHING GOES’ FOR MARIST SPRING MUSICAL
Where/When: Marist High School, 4200 W. 115th St., Chicago, April 8-9 at 7:30 p.m, and a 1:30 p.m. matinee on April 9 in the school’s Main Gym with open seating.
Why go: The great Cole Porter’s musical romp through the 1920s when a glimpse of stocking was looked on as something shocking.
Pricing: General admission $8, students $5. Tickets available at the door.

Why go: The Ladies Aid of Faith Lutheran Church are having their annual rummage and bake sale.
Lots of clothes, household items and misc available at reasonable prices.
Homemade baked goods and preserves are also for sale.
Pricing: Free through the door, except for the treasures that you by.
Where/When: Richards High School, April 9 from 6–10 p.m,
Why go: Students from throughout Dist. 218 – including Shepard High School, will show off their skills and talents in a wide variety of artistic pursuits. Evening features excellent food prepared by students from the district’s culinary programs, jazz bands and show choirs, and two- and three-dimensional artwork, plus hilarious performances from Richards’ comedy student improv group, The Laughing Aardvarks.
Pricing: Adults $10; students and seniors $5.
Where/when: St. Catherine’s Church, 10621 Kedvale Ave, Oak Lawn, 8 p.m. April 9.
Why go: Comedy Night will feature comedians Rocky LaPorte who has appeared on The Tonight Show and Showtime; Patrick McGann, who is part of Chicago Stand Up Project; and Denise Ramsden, the South Side's Own. Beer and wine will be served. Bring an appetizer for your table.

MARK NICHOLS PUPPETS PRESENTS ‘THE TALE OF PETER RABBIT’
Where/when: , 9400 S Troy Ave, Evergreen Park, April 9 from 2-4 p.m.
Why go: Families are welcome to join the library for a puppet performance of Beatrix Potter's classic tale of a mischievous bunny, The Tale of Peter Rabbit.

OAK LAWN COPS VS. FIREFIGHTERS HOCKEY BENEFIT
Where/When: Oak Lawn Ice Arena, Oak Lawn, on Sunday, April 10, from 5-9pm.
Why go: Oak Lawn’s first responders will be raising money for the 9/11 First Responders Memorial incorporating four steel beams from the fallen World Trade Center. Raffles, family fun and other surprises, plus a chance to see police and firefighters hold each other up on the ice. Buy a commemorative hockey puck for just $5. All proceeds benefit Monumental Oak Lawn and the sculpture installation to be dedicated on the tenth anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

Most Holy Redeemer Mother's Guild Mother-Daughter Brunch
Where/when: St. Xavier University’s Butler Room in the Warde Academic Center, 3700 W. 103rd St., (entrance and parking is off 103rd St. entranace), at 11 a.m. April 10.
Why go: Grandmothers, mothers and daughters are invited to attend the brunch, which includes a breakfast buffet, coffee, juice and milk. Also features raffles and a photographer.
Pricing: Adults $23; $12 for girls 12 and under; children under 3 free.
Where/When: 115 Bourbon Street in Merrionette Park on Wednesday, April 13, from 5:30-11 p.m.
Why Go: Show your support for Juliana Ramos and help her family raise the money it needs to sustain her recovery. Enjoy a full buffet, wine, beer and pop. Hear “American Idol” contestants Chris Medina and Caleb Hawley.
