Oak Lawn Cooling Centers Open During Hazardous Heat

The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for the local area. Oak Lawn's cooling centers are open.

The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous heat advisory for the local area in effect until 7 p.m. Friday, July 19.

A heat advisory means that a period of hot weather is expected with high temperatures and high humidity combining to create a situation in which heat illnesses are possible. Predicted highs for Thursday and Friday are in the high 90s, with a heat index of 105 to 109 degrees.

Take extra precautions if you work outside and save the daily run for the early morning or evening when temperatures are cooler.
