Police Activity At 103rd And Pulaski

Although some area news sources are saying that the Chicago Police Department will not confirm it as fact, others are reporting that a Chicago Fire Department employee was shot by police in Mount Greenwood this afternoon.

The man, whose name had not yet been released around 3 p.m., was reportedly undergoing surgery at Advocate Christ Medical Center, where he was listed in critical condition. 

The Chicago Tribune reported that around 12:45 p.m., the man fired at officers who were, "responding to reports of a man threatening suicide" at the CVS Pharmacy near 103 Street and Pulaski Road.

He was shot after he opened fire on them.

"Officials had earlier said he died, but spokesmen for both the hospital and the fire department said he was still alive as of 2:45 p.m.," The Tribune story says.

Patch is on the scene at 103rd and Pulaski where there is considerable police activity centered around a retail parking lot anchored by a CVS pharmacy.

103rd street has been closed between Pulaski and Springfield. Chicago Police News Affairs had no information at this time.
