OL Business Owners Count Down Hours to Small Business Saturday

Local business owners are counting down the minutes to the first-ever “Small Business Saturday,” promoting Oak Lawn’s independently owned shops and restaurants.

This Saturday (Nov. 24) from noon to 4 p.m., shoppers can catch a free trolley and experience awesome offers from 21 local businesses. The trolley will be circulating up and down Oak Lawn’s 95th Street business district between Cicero and Ridgeland, including a stop at Santa On the Green.

Look for volunteers or stop by the Oak Lawn Chamber of Commerce at Santa On the Green and pick up your trolley map of participating businesses. You can also print off the map included on Oak Lawn Patch.

The relaxed pace of the trolley offers residents a chance to check out local shops and restaurants that they probably have whizzed past down 95th Street.

Here are a few of the local deals and promotions awaiting you:

  • Frugalista – 30-percent off entire purchase, noon to 4 p.m.
  • Children’s Museum in Oak Lawn – 10-percent off all gift store purchases, day of event only, 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • The Craft Show Store – Free drawings and 10-percent off the entire store, noon to 4 p.m.
  • Premo’s – Free Santa cones, noon to 4 p.m.
  • Italo-American Accordian Company – Holiday entertainment specials and snacks, noon to 4 p.m.
  • Windy City Flower Girls – Free delivery to Oak Lawn area in December with Saturday order; free ornament to the first 50 families that come; free hot apple cider, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Wish I could be there as it sounds like a lot of fun. I'm from Oak Lawn but am in FL where the weather is acting strange. In other words - cold. It's suppose to warm up. Cheers!!

The Popeye's in Burbank has a hand sanitizer installed behind the counter, but honestly, the employees hardly ever use it, which is why, after a horrible experience at that location last July, I have not patronized ANY Popeye's since!!!
