The Cobras High School Hockey Club will be collecting frozen turkeys and monetary donations for Together We Cope, a non-profit agency based in Tinley Park that assists families in crisis from 22 Southland communities.

The hockey club -- which draws players from Oak Lawn, Evergreen Park, Stagg, Andrew, Chi-Tech, Shepard, Richards, Tinley Park and Oak Forest high schools -- will be rounding up turkeys in front of Stacked at 5273 W. 95th St., in Oak Lawn, from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.

“This gift of a holiday turkey will be greatly appreciated by families who might not be able to afford it this season because of a crisis in their lives such as unemployment or illness,” said Kathryn Straniero, executive director of TWC. “To have their neighbors reach out and remember them this holiday is a very special gesture, and we are grateful to the Cobras Hockey Club for helping us to make this happen.”

Helping to make donated turkeys come pouring in is WGN Radio’s Lou “Mr. Fix-It” Manfredini, who will be broadcasting his popular weekly show live from Stacked, between 7 and 10 a.m.
