BLOTTER: Open Malt Liquor, Dimmers Down the Pants, Stolen Campaign Signs

Oak Lawn police reports from April 9 through April 13.

SATURDAY APRIL 13

Open Malt Liquor 

A 21-year-old Chicago man was taken into custody and charged with driving on suspended license, no proof of insurance and open alcohol at 95th Street and Cicero Avenue. Police saw some type of disturbance taking place in a car driven as it traveled southbound on Cicero Avenue from 91st Street around 3:43 a.m. While speaking to the driver, identified as Juan Gonzalez, police noticed that backseat passenger had two open, 40-ounce bottles of Cobra malt liquor at his feet, reports said. Gonzalez was arrested and taken to the Oak Lawn police station. Police citied the passenger with open alcohol by a passenger in a car. Gonzalez is scheduled to appear in court on May 23 in Bridgeview.

Dimmers Down the Pants

The loss prevention officer at Home Depot, 4060 W. 95th St., watched a man later identified as Torrence Mathis, 23, of Chicago, enter the electrical department and allegedly hide four dimmer switches down the back of his pants. He was confronted outside the store. Mathis was issued a village citation for retail theft and is to appear for an administrative hearing at Oak Lawn Village Hall on May 7.

Stolen Campaign Signs

Campaign signs were reported stolen sometime before 6 a.m. at three different polline places located at 9400 S. Oak Park Ave., 9620 S. Normandy Ave., and 9101 S. Meade Ave. A total of 80 signs were stolen.
