BLOTTER: Sex Offender Nabbed on Warrant, Dunkin’ in the Tip Jar

Sex Offender Nabbed at 7-Eleven

A Hometown cop detained a man wanted on a sex offense at the 7-Eleven at 4501 W. 95th St. around 6:28 p.m. for Oak Lawn police. A name check indicated that Leron Hampton, 38, was wanted on a no-bond warrant, police said. Hampton was taken to the Oak Lawn police station where he was being held for Cook County Sheriff’s Police.

Employee Accused of Stealing Tip Money

A fast-food employee was charged with theft after police said he stole tip money from the Dunkin’ Donuts at 10301 S. Central Ave. The manager provided surveillance video taken between April 8 and April 16 showing Antonio Heffner, 30, of South Holland, using sleight of hand to pocket cash while working the drive-through window, reports said. The manager claimed Heffner rang up small priced items, such as a single Munchkin, as an excuse to keep the cash drawer open. Police said Heffner stole $110. He is also suspected of taking money from the tip jar. His next court date is May 31.
