Meat Hidden In Pants


A 44-year-old Chicago man was arrested by Oak Lawn police after grocery store employees allegedly spotted him putting meat in his pants and leaving without paying. Robert K. Jones, 44, of the 6800 block of South Green Street, was charged with retail theft, according to a police report. A store employee at Jewel, 9424 S. Pulaski Rd., told police at about 9:57 p.m. he saw Jones stuff seven packages of meat down his pants and then take off toward the nearby Home Depot store. Evergreen Park officers caught up with the suspect at 95th Street and Avers Avenue, according to the report.

Trying To Impress The Girlfriend


Anthony M. Kelley, 26, of the 9700 block of Lorraine Drive, Countryside, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, DUI with a blood-alcohol content greater than 0.08, improper lane use and failing to signal, according to a report. Police were on patrol when they spotted a car appear to lose control before swinging back into the lane and correcting itself at about 2:14 a.m. near the 6400 block of West 95th Street. "I was trying to impress my girlfriend," the driver, Kelley, told police when asked about the erratic driving. He was arrested after he performed field sobriety tests and took a breath test, which resulted in a 0.155 BAC. While in police custody, he took a second breath test after a 20-minute wait that resulted in a BAC of 0.148.
