Gangbangers Leave Mark on Oak Lawn

Police discover gangs' handiwork while on patrol.

discovered freshly painted gang graffiti on a rear fence on the 9200 block of South Lynwood Drive around 5:53 a.m. Nov. 10.

While informing the homeowners, a neighbor told police of a suspicious car on the 9200 block of South Austin behind the home. According to the report, the neighbor said he heard what sounded like a can of spray paint. Two men in a car drove by in a black Ford Taurus and asked the neighbor if he had any weed. The graffiti was removed as of Nov. 16.

On Nov. 10 and 12, pitchforks were found spray-painted on stop signs at 90th and 91st Streets and Austin Avenue.

Also on Nov. 10, police found gang graffiti on the picnic shelter at Centennial Park, 9299 S. Nashville Ave. Police said the names of several gangs had been spray-painted on the support poles of the shelter, including the letters “SD” (Satan’s Disciples), SD Killer and an upside-down pitchfork. Locations of streets were also left, including 35th-107th, and 99th & Harlem.
