Oak Lawn Drug Raid Nets Two Arrests

Saturday morning search of residence turns up two shoeboxes full of pot, digital and manual scales and a bottle of pills, cops say.

During the early morning hours of Aug. 13, police executed a search warrant at a Oak Lawn residence and found two shoeboxes full of pot, digital and manual scales, and prescription drugs. Two arrests were made as a result of the bust, according to a police report.

At 5:30 a.m. on a Saturday, police arrived at a home in the 6300 block of W. 90th Street. Police forced their way in after receiving no response from the residents. The report said officers gathered the four residents in the kitchen, served them with a search warrant and then searched the home.

Officers said that while speaking with one of the residents Jeff Morrar, 19, he admitted to having a shoebox with drugs in it. Police said he took them into his bedroom, where they found the box containing 86 grams of pot in several different-sized Baggies, various other plastic Baggies and one digital scale in the box. Officers also found two bond slips and one Six Flags card as proof of Morrar’s address in his bedroom.

The report said that a trained police dog found a second shoebox containing drugs in the bedroom of John Carzoli, 51, who also resides at the home.

Inside the box, officers said they found 264 grams of pot, plastic Baggies, a metal grinder and three small manual scales. Next to the shoebox, officers also said they found one large digital scale and various plastic Baggies around the room. Police said also found another plastic bag with three grams of pot and a bottle of 16 white tablets later identified as Hydrocodone in Carzoli’s room, police said.

Police found a cable bill and postmarked letter as proof of Carzoli’s residence, the report said.

Nothing found in the home’s other two bedrooms. Police released two others at the home without charges.

Both men were taken to the station, where Morrar was charged with possession of cannabis 30-500 grams, possession of cannabis with intent to deliver, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Carzoli was charged with possession of cannabis 30-500 grams, possession of cannabis with intent to deliver, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Both men were held, pending a bond hearing.
