One Dead After Car Crashes Into Home - UPDATED

Car was traveling at high rate of speed when it left the road and crashed into residence, killing the 24-year-old driver and injuring two passengers. Homeowners are okay, police say.

Update, 2:04 a.m. Saturday -- A 24-year-old man was killed and two others injured after their car crashed into a house on Friday evening.

Oak Lawn police and firefighters were sent to 105th Street and Georgia Lane after receiving multiple 911 calls about a car that crashed into a house around 10:39 p.m., a police news release said.

When police and firefighters arrived at the home in the 10400 block of Georgia Lane, a black, 2001 Audi had crashed into the home’s garage.

Police said the car was travelling west on 105th Street at a high rate of speed when the car left the road and crashed into the house.

Three adult males were in the car. The two passengers were taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center. Police said they do not believe the passengers’ injuries to be life threatening.

The 24-year-old male driver was pronounced dead on the scene and taken to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Police said the garage had suffered significant damage. The two homeowners were at home at the time of the accident, but were not injured.

The Oak Lawn Police Traffic Investigation Unit is conducting an investigation.

The Oak Lawn Police Department asks that anyone who witnessed the crash to call 708 422-8292.
