POLICE BLOTTER: Fake Dealer Plate, House Guest from Hell

Fraudulent Dealer Plate

A Chicago woman was cited for improper use of registration and other traffic offenses when police spotted a fraudulent Indiana dealer’s plate on her car, police said. Police stopped the car in the 10000 block of South Cicero Avenue around 11:04 a.m. Officers recognized from previous experience that the plate had a shiny finish and discoloration, indicating that it was a laminated photo-copy, the report said. A computer check revealed the driver, identified as Irene Saucedo, 22, of Chicago, had a suspended driver’s license. The dealer’s license was also phony, police said. Saucedo was also cited for having no proof of registration and operating an uninsured vehicle.

Unwanted House Guest

A 73-year-old man reported being hit over the head and robbed of $5 by a house guest. The senior reported a younger man staying with him for the past several days at his home in the 8900 block of South 50th Avenue. After telling his guest in the afternoon that he had to leave, police said the guest returned later around 6:30 p.m. The 73-year-old man, who police said has been the victim of financial scams and ruse burglars in the past, was working in his garage when the house guest approached him. The senior said he was hit over the head and took $5 from his pocket. The house guest fled on foot and the senior drove himself to the Oak Lawn police station to report the incident. When further questioned by police at the station, the senior seemed “confused.” The 73-year-old was taken to Christ Hospital from the police lobby. Police said the senior gave them permission to search his house, where they found a bag of clothing, sleeping bag and a few drops of blood on the garage floor. The senior did not know the name of the house guest, but described him as being in his thirties about six feet tall with a thin build.
